Glenrothes Kirsch 07/1990 – 02/2000

by Oliver Klimek on February 17, 2010

43%

My Tasting Notes:

Nose: Honey, vanilla, fresh grapes, a bit spirity
Palate: Honey, raisins, a bit like rum, caramel, spirity
Finish: Rather long and fruity
Overall: Quite enjoyable, but the youthful spirit character is a bit too dominant

Score: 80/100No price/value information as this is a collector’s bottle

Side note: “Kirsch” is only the bottler’s name. No cherries were harmed in creating this whisky!

Glenrothes 1990 18 yo

by Oliver Klimek on July 24, 2009

Cadenhead’s – 56,9%

My Tasting Notes

Nose: Very intense, dried fruits, minimally sour
Palate: Strong sherry, dried apricots, dates, noticeable wood notes
Finish: Very long and spicy, the dates stay long ;-)
Overall: Almost like the big brother of the Blair Athol Dark Sherry. They take the same direction, but due to its higher age, there is more wood influence and complexity. Just a drop can keep you busy for minutes.

Score: 92/100 – Price Tag $$$$$ – Value for your Money $$$$$
