My Tasting Notes:
Nose: Slightly smoky, bacon, cherries, chocolate
Palate: Some peat, ripe berries, toffee, a bit watery though
Finish: Long, fruity and smoky
Overall: Fruitier than its 15 yo successor but less complex, still a good whisky though

My Tasting Notes
Nose: Slightly smoky, somewhat fruity, notably black currant
Palate: Quite peaty, lots of mint, chocolate, some bitterness
Finish: Long and smoky with a fruitiness that reminds me a bit of gummi bears
Overall: A very untypical sherried whisky. I don’t like this one very much. The strong mint notes and the bitterness turn me off.

My Tasting Notes
Nose: Quite maritime but only little smoke, dark chocolate, ripe berries
Palate: Slightly salty, cherries, chocolate, gentle smoke
Finish: Very long, fruity in the beginning, then the smoke shines through
Overall: I like this even better than the 2007 Port Wood. Distinctly maritime with only little peat and quite fruity. Powerful!

Nose: Smoked bacon, slightly medicinal, ripe fruit
Palate: Dry peat, citrus fruit, slightly bitter
Finish: Long, dry and smoky
Overall: More sherry than the regular 12yo, but not very sweet, definitely a notch up. Very good value for an affordable price.

My Tasting Notes
Nose: A mix of smoke and dried fruits
Palate: Fruitier and less smoky than the nose. Strong sherry influence and even some Mortlach-like meatiness
Finish: Very long, first fruits, then smoke
Overall: A great mix of sherry and peat (approx. 70/30) The name “Darkest” is fitting not only beacuse of the colour. It really tastes “dark”.

My Tasting Notes
Nose: Intensive, smoked ham, minimally fruity
Palate: A sweet kick first, getting drier afterwards, medicinal, rather peaty, some faint fruitiness and a wee hint of chocolate can be noticed
Finish: Long and smoky
Overall: Quite untamed for a Bowmore, almost Laphroaig-ish but not quite as complex. But still quite a nice dram.

My Tasting Notes
Nose: Not very strong, slightly smoky, slightly floral
Palate: Fragile peat combined with fragile floral notes. Not much in there to hunt for.
Finish: Not very long, peat disappears before the flowers.
Overall: Praised by many, but I was disappointed. Perhaps there was something wrong with the sample I recevied, I don’t know. You don’t notice that this is a 17 yo, might as well be a 12 yo. Almost like a cross between classic Islay and Lowlands.
